inJust realized I've been signing off the same type of hydraulic line leak for 15 years now.
Man, that's wild. I read an article once about how common that exact problem is in certain industries. They called it a "recurring failure pattern" where the same small design flaw just keeps causing issues for years. It's not even about the parts wearing out, it's built wrong from the start. How does a company not fix something after seeing it fail for 15 straight years? Seems like they just budget for the leaks instead of fixing the root cause.

inHot take: Our student group at UC Berkeley invited a speaker and the admin shut it down an hour before
Honestly, that sounds like a paperwork mix-up, not some big free speech fight. Campus admin deals with a ton of room requests and things slip through. Showing them the email confirmation probably would have fixed it on the spot, maybe after some annoying back-and-forth. It's frustrating for sure, but jumping to "they shut us down" feels like skipping a few steps. Next time, maybe have a printed copy of everything on hand.

inJust wasted $40 on a 'complete' anime box set that was missing the last two episodes lol
I mean, I bought a DVD set once that just had the same disc twice in the case. It's like they don't even try to hide it sometimes. Makes you check everything right in the store now.

inHad a shoe blow out on a draft horse in Bend that nearly took my thumb off
Man, that's a scary one. After a similar close call, I started tapping every shoe with a light hammer before I touch it. A solid shoe rings clear, but one with a hidden crack or a bad weld gives you a flat, dead sound. It adds a minute to the job but it's saved my hide more than once.
