That time my lentil soup experiment turned into concrete
Last Tuesday I tried to stretch a bag of 99 cent lentils into three meals by adding extra water and cornstarch, and by lunch the next day the whole pot had set like a brick in my fridge. I spent 20 minutes chipping it out with a butter knife while my roommate watched and said "you need a chisel, not a recipe." Has anyone else had a cheap meal backfire in a way that was more of a workout than a dinner?
Tried to make "lentil jerky" once by leaving the pot on the radiator overnight. Woke up to something that could patch a pothole. My dog sniffed it and walked away, and that dog eats garbage. Honestly your roommate is right, you were one chisel away from a home reno project instead of dinner. Next time just accept the loss and order a five dollar pizza like a normal broke person.
