Update: My grocery store's 'manager's special' meat is just the stuff expiring tomorrow

Found out from a stocker that the 50% off stickers mean it's literally a 24-hour countdown. Anyone else have stores that do this?

Actually that's how it's SUPPOSED to work. Manager's special stickers are for items that need to sell fast. It's a normal grocery store practice, not a secret trick. The date is still right there on the package for you to check. You're just getting a clear discount for buying something you need to use or freeze soon. It's a good deal if you plan for it.
