Forgot my backpack in Dublin, the 12 euro decathlon bag saved my trip

My carry-on got gate checked in Dublin and they lost it for two days, so I grabbed a 12 euro duffel from Decathlon on O'Connell Street. It held 4 days of clothes plus souvenirs, survived Ryanair's overhead bin, and now I'm wondering if a flimsy bag is actually the smart move for budget flights. Anyone else ditched their fancy luggage for the cheapest option and came out ahead?
