Vent: chose the $12 overnight bus from Bangkok to Chiang Mai over the $45 train and my back still hates me
I was stuck deciding between the cheap sleeper bus for 12 bucks and the train for 45 on my trip through Thailand back in March. I picked the bus to save cash for food and it was a 12 hour ride with barely any legroom and a broken AC. The train would've had an actual bed and I keep thinking about that extra 33 dollars I saved and whether it was worth the misery. Has anyone else done the cheap bus thing and regretted it, or is the train actually worth the splurge?

Did the same thing in Vietnam, 18 hours of pure hell for like 15 bucks.
