Got called out at a family dinner for my 'obsessive' spreadsheet habit

So last weekend my sister saw me logging a $3.50 coffee purchase into my monthly tracker and she laughed saying I was wasting time. But then she asked how I paid off my car loan 8 months early and I told her it was from catching little leaks like that daily coffee habit. I've got a row for every single dollar I spend, even the pocket change stuff, and it adds up fast. My spreadsheets have saved me roughly $2,000 this year alone just from spotting subscription renewals I forgot about. She stopped laughing when I showed her the total. Anyone else have relatives who think tracking is crazy until they see the results?

My cousin does the exact same thing with her banking apps and I honestly think she spends more time tracking her money than she does actually enjoying it. Like what’s the point of saving $2,000 if you’re stressing over a $3.50 coffee for months?

OH the "stressing over a $3.50 coffee" thing is SO real. I caught myself last week doing mental math over a bagel and felt like a COMPLETE lunatic.
