Is a $200 meal kit worth it or am I just paying for convenience?
So last month I tried one of those meal kit services, the fancy ones where everything is pre-portioned and you just cook it. Spent about $200 for 5 dinners for two. On one hand, I stopped ordering takeout 3 times a week, that was like $60 each time. So I probably saved around $300 compared to my usual routine. But when I actually broke it down, the meals were decent but not amazing, and I still had to buy rice and oil and stuff. Plus the packaging was a nightmare to recycle. My friend swears it's the only reason she eats healthy now, but my other buddy says it's a scam and he can meal prep for $40 a week. What's your experience? Did the convenience actually pay off for anyone, or did the cost sneak up on you after a few weeks?
