My cousin's $900 'deal' made me redo our whole grocery plan

Last month my cousin bragged she cut her grocery bill to $900 a month for a family of 5, then showed me her receipts. Turns out she was buying mostly pasta, frozen pizzas, and no fresh produce. I copied her for 3 weeks and we felt awful, plus our snacks bill at work went up because I was hungry. Now I do a mix: bulk rice and beans from the Asian market on 82nd, plus a $40 weekly produce box from a local farm. Has anyone else found those super cheap meal plans actually backfire?

Different budgets hit different, so that $900 plan might be fine for some folks who just need calories and not much else. But yeah, cutting fresh stuff completely is a quick way to feel like garbage, I've been there with the work snack cravings too. Your mix of bulk staples plus the farm box sounds way more balanced, even if it costs a bit more upfront.
