PSA: Our street started a tool share and it's saving us all cash, but some folks hate the hassle.

My neighborhood set up a shared tool shed where we can borrow things like lawn mowers and drills. On one hand, it cuts down on everyone buying duplicate stuff, which is a big win for our wallets. On the other hand, coordinating who has what and when can be a pain, and tools sometimes come back dirty or broken. I'm curious where people stand on this local budgeting move. Do you think the savings are worth the extra effort?

Those scheduling conflicts only get worse over time.

Man, my buddy's drill came back with a dead battery and a cracked handle. He spent more time fixing it than he saved by not buying his own. Makes you wonder if some people can handle sharing stuff.

That drill handle is plastic, right? My cousin borrowed my impact driver and snapped the chuck clean off. He tried to glue it back with super glue, like that would hold up to torque. Some folks just treat borrowed tools like they're disposable. I don't lend out anything with a battery anymore.
