Spent $50 on a cheap vacuum sealer and it already paid for itself in bulk meat savings
I bought a $50 vacuum sealer last month and after splitting a 40-pound box of chicken breasts with my neighbor, I saved about $80 compared to buying individual packs at the store, so has anyone else found this thing actually works for freezing leftovers too?

Yeah I gotta push back on that a little. I've had a couple different vacuum sealers and the cheap $50 ones usually don't hold up past a few months, the seals start failing or the bag doesn't pull all the air out right. You might see some savings upfront with bulk meat but if the machine craps out on you after six months you're not really coming out ahead. Also leftovers with sauce or moisture tend to get sucked into the seal channel and ruin the bag entirely, so you end up wasting more plastic than you save. Not trying to be a downer, just saying that cheap gear often costs more in the long run once you factor in the frustration and wasted bags.

Yeah the sauce thing kills it every time, I always freeze my leftovers first now before sealing to avoid that mess.
