Vent: I just lost $150 on a 'budgeting' app subscription I forgot to cancel

It auto-renewed last month and I didn't even use it. Has anyone else gotten stuck paying for something they completely forgot about?

My bank account got hit for $89.99 last year for a meditation app I downloaded once. I used to think auto-renew was just a normal part of life, you know? That one charge made me go through every subscription on my phone and computer. I found four others I had totally forgotten about. Now I set a calendar reminder for a week before any free trial ends. It feels like the only way to fight back against how sneaky the whole system is.

Ugh that's the worst! I had the same thing happen with a fitness app that charged me $75 after a free trial. It's crazy how they hide the auto-renew in the fine print. I started checking my bank statement line by line every month because of stuff like that. Your calendar reminder idea is actually really smart, I might steal that.
