Back when my bullet journal was just a notebook, not an art project

I miss the days when my bullet journal was just a tool to keep my life in order. I'd grab any notebook, jot down tasks with basic symbols, and move on. It was quick and helped me focus. Now, it feels like everyone posts these perfect, colorful spreads with washi tape and fancy lettering. I spend more time adding art than actually planning. My pages look messy compared to others, and it stresses me out. The real point was to simplify, not to add another chore. Sometimes I think we've lost the plot with all this extra stuff.

Totally feel this, my bujo turned into a massive time suck trying to make it insta-worthy. Got so caught up in drawing borders and testing markers that my actual to-do list never got done. The whole compare-and-despair thing with those perfect spreads online is real, makes you forget it's just a notebook. Honestly went back to a cheap pad and a pen, way less stress.

I had a whole drawer of washi tape and mildliners that just sat there after my third attempt. Ended up spending maybe eighty bucks on tools for a system that's supposed to be simple. The whole point gets lost when your pens cost more than your peace of mind.
