I think the push for perfect weekly spreads is missing the point

I see so many posts with these beautiful, detailed weekly layouts that must take an hour to draw. I tried that for about three months and it just made me not want to open my journal. The whole idea, for me, is to get things out of my head fast. If I need to draw a perfect grid and color code everything before I can write 'call plumber,' I've already lost. My current system is just the date and a rapid log list. It's messy, but I actually use it every day. I think the fancy stuff can scare people off from even starting. What's a simple change you made that got you using your journal more?

My weekly spread looks like a toddler attacked it with a crayon.

My friend's bullet journal looked like a kindergarten art project last month.
