That $45 metallic marker set I bought for my monthly spreads was a total rip off

I saw this 12 pack of metallic watercolor markers on Instagram and thought they'd be perfect for my monthly cover pages. The video made them look so smooth and vibrant against dark paper. Paid $45 for the set and after using them for 3 weeks the tips are already frayed and the silver just looks like gray now. The gold barely shows up on black paper unless I go over it like 4 times. Anyone else fall for those fancy looking marker sets that just don't deliver?

Fell for the exact same thing with a different brand. Ended up going back to my old standby - those cheap acrylic paint markers from the craft store work way better on dark paper. The trick I found is to shake them really good for like 30 seconds and store them upside down so the paint flows into the tip. Also, using a white gel pen underneath makes the colors pop way more. Have you tried that white base trick? It saved my monthly spreads honestly.

The white base trick is a game changer for sure, I do the same thing with a cheap white gel pen before layering any color on dark paper. It took me way too many ruined journal pages to figure that one out.
