That 'one page per day' advice from a coworker nearly ruined my bujo

My office mate Dave, who has been bullet journaling since 2016, told me I had to use a full page for each daily log or I wasn't doing it right. I followed that for about three weeks in March, and my notebook filled up so fast I ran out of space by the 24th. Turns out he only does that because he writes huge and hates flipping back, but my compact style meant I wasted half of every page. Has anyone else gotten rigid rules from a fellow journaler that just didn't fit their own system?

That "wasn't doing it right" part gets me. Who made Dave the bullet journal police? There's no governing body that certifies bujo methods. I've been keeping one since 2019 and my daily logs are like three lines on a good day. The whole point of the system is that it bends to your needs, not the other way around. Did you ever ask him why he thought a full page was mandatory, or did he just assume his way was the only way? I'm curious if he had some logical reason or if it was just pure habit dressed up as a rule. Because that's the thing about advice from experienced people, sometimes they forget their setup is personal, not universal. You probably saved yourself a ton of wasted paper by ditching his method, so good for you. So what does your daily log actually look like now?
