30 bucks for a shortwave receiver, best money I ever spent on news
I got one of those cheap pocket shortwave radios a few years back, maybe 2019, to catch broadcasts from overseas when I travel. In Bolivia last spring, our local news kept saying one thing about a protest near Cochabamba, but Radio France Internationale had a totally different take. The signals were scratchy and faded in and out, but the facts lined up with what folks on the ground were whispering. That little box cost me $30 and it shredded the official story I'd have otherwise believed. Do you guys still bother with shortwave, or is satellite internet the only way to dig past the block now?

Bolivia? You actually trusted a $30 radio over the government there and lived to tell it?
