A Thai news site ran a story in 2019 that got wiped in 4 hours, and the Wayback Machine still has it
I got into archiving blocked headlines last year after a friend in Bangkok told me about a 2019 story on a pollution spike near Map Ta Phut that vanished from the site within 4 hours. I pulled the original URL through archive.org and compared it to the current version, and the paragraph with the emissions numbers was just gone. I now run every link through two archivers before I even read it. Does anyone have a backup tool that grabs the full page before these sites scrub the text?
The part about the paragraph with the emissions numbers just being gone really hits home. I had the same thing happen with a local paper here, a story about a chemical leak got trimmed down overnight and the whole section naming the company was cut out. I only caught it because I had pasted the text into a note file for a friend who worked nearby. Now I do the same thing you do, run it through a couple of save services first. For tools, I use the Wayback Machine's save page now and archive.today, and I keep a copy in a plain text file too since sometimes the screenshots miss stuff. Have you tried saving the print view of the page? That version usually keeps the full text longer before they scrub it.
