Just landed in Havana and found out the local papers are three days behind

I flew into Cuba last Tuesday for a quick visit, and every newsstand I passed had papers from Saturday still on the racks. Turns out the state-run outlets print on a delay and just skip stories about the blackouts or the food shortages, nobody even blinks about it. I asked a guy at the corner cafe why, and he just shrugged and said "that's how it works here, you learn the real news from your neighbor." Has anyone else stumbled into a place where the official news is basically a museum piece? I'm still trying to figure out what else they're not printing.

Went to Moscow back in 2016 for a week and had the same thing happen. The newspapers there were all about how great the harvest was and how happy everyone felt, but you could see the lines at the grocery store with your own eyes. A cab driver told me straight up that the TV news was for tourists and old people, and everyone else just used messaging apps to find out what was really going on. It's a strange feeling when you realize the official story is just there to fill space, not to tell you anything useful. Hope you find some good conversations there, the real news is always on the street corner, not the stand.
