My cousin in Manila told me about a local news site getting blocked for a report on a politician's land deal
She said the site went down for a full day after publishing the story, and the official reason was 'technical issues'. Makes you wonder how many stories we never see because someone powerful doesn't want them out. Has anyone else heard about news getting quietly erased in their country?

It's scary how common that is now. Makes you wonder what else gets buried under those "server maintenance" messages.

Saw the same thing happen to a small news outlet in California that was digging into a local water company scandal. Their whole site went down for "scheduled maintenance" right after they posted the story, and when it came back up that article was gone. The editor later said their hosting provider just cut them off with no warning. Makes you wonder how many "technical glitches" are really just someone pulling strings behind the scenes.

Totally believe it. Saw something similar happen with a local blog here that looked into a city council contract. The whole site just vanished for a weekend, and they came back with a vague apology note. Makes you question every "server error" message you see on a news page now.
