My VPN stopped working after I updated it during peak hours

I was trying to read an article from a site that's blocked in my country, but the update hit right when traffic was heavy and I got locked out for 20 minutes. Tried switching servers and clearing the cache, but nothing worked until I waited it out. Does anyone else time their VPN updates for off-peak hours to avoid this hassle?

Twenty minutes is annoying but let's be real, it's not like you missed a mortgage payment over it. I've had updates tank my whole connection for way longer than that during normal hours, so peak time probably just made it worse for a few extra minutes. Honestly, most people don't even think about "timing" updates, they just hit update and move on when it's done. You could schedule it for 3am, but then you're awake at 3am messing with a VPN, which sounds worse to me. I'd just keep a backup browser or a free proxy in your pocket for those rare moments, and call it a day.
