An ops manager in Denver showed me her 3 PM checklist and it changed how I run my Fridays
Last month I grabbed coffee with Dana, who runs ops for a 40 person logistics company out in Denver, and she pulled out this beat up index card with five things she checks every single afternoon at 3 PM. One of them was just calling the two customers whose orders were most likely to slip that week, which felt so simple I almost brushed it off. I started doing it at my own shop and caught a vendor delay on Tuesday instead of finding out Friday at 4:45. Does anyone else have a set afternoon ritual like this, or do you just wing it and hope nothing blows up?
Does she do anything about the list after she makes it, or just note what might slip? I keep a running note on my phone and check it right before I leave, takes two minutes and has saved me a few times. The trick is picking the two or three accounts that actually matter that week instead of trying to check everything.
