Reconsidering my whole stance on hiring only local vendors

After a meeting with a supplier from Akron who pointed out my shipping costs were eating 18% of margins, I checked his math and he was right about going with a distant warehouse. My rule against out of state vendors was costing us more than any quality difference. Has anyone else flipped their policy after a supplier showed them the numbers?
