My band saw blade let go mid-shift and taught me a lesson
Tuesday morning at Ray's Meats in Columbus, I was trimming a 40 pound ribeye when the blade just snapped and whipped around like a snake. It barely missed my hand, but it tore up the blade guard and left a scratch across the table I still need to file down. Anyone else have an older machine throw a surprise like that, and did you switch to a different blade brand or just replace more often?
Man, that blade didn't "let go" on its own, old blades snap because they're dull or the tension's off, so check that before you blame the machine. A new brand won't save you if the guide bearings are shot.
