Stumbled on a stat about grass-fed beef shelf life

Was reading through some USDA reports last week. Turns out grass-fed beef only lasts about 3-5 days longer in the fridge than grain-fed. I always thought it would spoil way faster. Found it in their 2023 meat storage guidelines. Anyone else see different results with their grass-fed cuts?

Funny enough I just lost a grass-fed sirloin to my own incompetence last week. Thought I was being all fancy with the "natural" beef but it turned green on day 4, right when I planned to cook it. Now I feel like a fool for not checking those USDA stats sooner. At least the grain-fed stuff in my freezer seems more forgiving with my terrible meal planning habits.

Feel you @thomas105, I've done the exact same thing with a grass-fed ribeye last month. Left it in the back of the fridge for five days thinking it'd be fine like regular beef, but it started smelling off. Honestly think the whole "grass-fed is healthier" thing made me treat it with kid gloves... but really it's just meat that goes bad if you don't pay attention. At least we both learned the hard way instead of getting sick.
