Cabinet door glue-up went sideways at 11pm and my orange cat is now part of the finish
So last Thursday I was gluing up a set of shaker doors for a kitchen in Sacramento, and I got to the last one around 11pm, tired and rushing. I had all 8 clamps on, checking the diagonals with my tape, and I swear the corner was square at first. Then I heard this little pop, and the bottom rail slipped about a quarter inch. My orange cat Gus picked that exact second to jump on the bench, knock over my Titebond bottle, and step right through the squeeze-out. He then ran across the door face leaving little sticky paw prints on both finished panels, which I had already sanded to 150. I stood there for a solid minute just laughing because what else can you do. I wiped what I could, but one print is still baked into the grain near the bottom stile. I re-squared the door, re-clamped it, and it came out fine structure wise, but now I'm wondering if I should sand it back or just call it a custom texture and charge extra. Anyone got a trick for getting dried glue off a stained panel without messing up the color?
