Comic club debates are getting heated over movie changes

Doesn't this same argument pop up every time an old show gets a new version? Fans of the original often complain, while others enjoy the fresh take! It's just how people are when things they know get changed.

Banned from a subreddit for my honest review, but it sparked a new group

Seriously, that realness @evagrant mentioned is the whole point. It feels like most groups start policing talk the second they get big. Does keeping it honest actually help a group grow, or does it always cause drama?

Had to turn down a buddy's slab work over weak concrete plans

I mean, sometimes a cheap floor is all someone needs. If he knows it won't last forever but just needs it done now, maybe you're being too strict. Could've just done the work he asked for.

My sister-in-law volunteered me for a free carpet install at her church

That "volunteered me" thing hits a nerve. I see it all the time with tradespeople. Family or neighbors just assume your time and skill are free for the asking. It’s not just carpet. My buddy who fixes cars gets hit up for free brake jobs. Another friend who is an electrician gets asked to wire a cousin's shed for a six-pack. They don’t see it as losing paid work, but that’s exactly what it is. Your job is your job, even if you’re good at it.

My air fryer Brussels sprouts took forever to crisp up last night

My grandma always swore by salting veggies before roasting to pull out moisture. She'd slice zucchini, sprinkle salt, and let it sit for an hour before baking. They came out super crispy without much oil, kinda like your trick. I tried it with potatoes once and totally burned them because I forgot to rinse the salt off. Now I just use a towel like you said, way less hassle.
