Just realized stain drying times are getting crazy with humidity swings!
I was finishing a maple cabinet last week and the stain just wouldn't set. It seems like humidity really messes with drying times these days. What do you do to keep projects on schedule when the weather acts up?

Wait, your shelf swelled overnight? That's wild. @martinez.diana is right about the wood looking confused, it's like it has a mood. I just run a dehumidifier in the shop now, no other choice.

Ugh, tell me about it... my real problem lately is how the wood itself is moving before I even get to the stain. I had a pine shelf I'd cut perfectly and it swelled overnight in the garage like it had a mind of its own. Now I'm paranoid and checking the weather app more than my texts... it just makes the whole process feel so shaky when you can't trust the air in your own workspace. I keep a little fan running on low near stuff now, but it's a band-aid fix at best.
