My biscuit joiner threw a fit and launched a half-inch piece of MDF across the shop yesterday

Was running a production run of 30 cabinet doors and the joiner kicked back so hard it sent a splinter right into my coffee mug, shattered it, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a tool just decide to randomly self-destruct mid-cut?

My old Delta joiner did the exact same thing about two years ago, shot a chunk of oak right through the window. I switched to a Freud blade and haven't had a kickback since, that fixed it for me.

Honestly I think blaming the blade is a bit of a shortcut. My old Delta kicked back with a Freud in it too, it's more about how you're feeding the wood and if your fence is even parallel to the blade. I've had the same Freud blade for years and still got a piece of maple launched at my knee last spring, it just depends on the cut.
