Visiting an Amish shop has me debating hand tools against power tools.

Hand tools offer precision, but power tools speed up production. What's your take?

Totally get what you mean about the precision. I just finished a small woodworking project using only hand tools, and the quiet focus was really satisfying.

But have you tried using power tools with that same level of focus? I find a router or table saw needs just as much careful attention. It's really about the person, not the tool.

Honestly I was the same way for years, always grabbing the power tools first. What changed for me was trying to build a small box using only hand planes and a saw. The slowness forced me to pay attention in a totally different way. I had to feel the wood grain and adjust my cuts by hand, not just push a board through a fence. It taught me a deeper kind of control. Now I see both have their place, but the hand tools really trained my focus in a new way.
