PSA: Home remodels are driving a huge demand for in-wall cable work
I've seen a clear trend lately where people doing home updates want every wire tucked away out of sight. Just finished a basement finish where the owner wanted not a single cable showing for the TV and internet setup. We had to run everything behind the new drywall, which meant mapping out paths around electrical lines and air ducts. It took longer than a standard install, but the clean look is worth it for them. I've started adding more time to my quotes for these jobs to cover the extra labor. Always double-check the wall cavity for obstacles before you start cutting, it saves so much frustration. Carrying a good inspection camera has become a must for me on these calls. Why do you think hiding cables has become such a big deal in home projects now?

Learned that the hard way after I drilled into a pipe, lol.

Saw an article about how social media and home design shows have made people really aware of visual clutter. They called it the "clean aesthetic" trend where even a single visible wire feels messy now. It's not just about being neat, it's like a whole design requirement for a finished space.

A flexible drill bit was a game changer for fishing wires through tight spots. Saved me hours on the last bathroom reno where everything had to go behind tile.
