Rant: A passerby kept telling me how to secure conduit on a siding job

I was mounting conduit along a vinyl siding for a new install. This random guy walking his dog stops and says I should use different clips. He went on about how he fixes things around his house all the time. I had to explain why my method holds up better in wind and rain. Totally threw off my focus for the rest of the afternoon.

Man, that takes me back. A buddy of mine who does satellite installs had this happen last summer. He was on a ladder running a line down this brick exterior, and the neighbor from across the street just wanders over, hands on his hips, going on about the "proper" drill bit for masonry. My friend said he just had to stop, climb down, and basically give the guy a free lesson on shear strength while his coffee got cold. It's amazing how people see a toolbox and suddenly become master electricians.

Watched a guy at the hardware store last month arguing about the right saw blade for cutting pipe. He had no idea what he was talking about, but he acted like he built the place. Same thing happens when I'm working on my car in the driveway. Someone always leans over the fence to say I should use a different wrench or something. Honestly, it's just part of life now. You learn to smile and nod until they get bored and leave.
