A simple question from a customer changed my approach to estimates

A retired teacher brought in a 1980s Canon AE-1 last Tuesday in Fort Wayne. He asked me why I charge the same for a CLA as for a full shutter rebuild, and he had a point. I realized I was pricing by time spent, not by the actual skill involved. That conversation pushed me to rethink how I break down my labor costs on the quote sheet. Has anyone else adjusted their pricing after a customer asked something obvious like that?

Read a similar take in a photo forum last month about pricing for repair skill, not time.
