Guy at the shop in Tulsa said my shutter timing was off by 40ms, so I stopped trusting my ear
I always timed shutters by sound. Been doing it 14 years. You listen to the click, you know if it drags. Well, Ray at the shop in Tulsa put my Nikon F2 on his tester and it read 40ms slow at 1/1000. I argued with him for 20 minutes. Then he ran it three more times and it was the same. Turns out my hearing has drifted just enough that I was setting everything a hair slow. I picked up a used tester that week for $180 and now I check every camera before it goes back to the customer. Anyone else have a skill that quietly went bad on them without noticing?
