Local library hosted a camera care talk, picked up a useful trick

I went to a free talk at our library last week about basic camera care. The presenter showed a safe way to clean mirror boxes with a soft brush and gentle strokes. I tried it on an old SLR I was fixing and it worked great. Now I use this method for all my repairs to avoid marks. It's a small thing but it makes a big difference in quality.

I always keep soft brushes in my cleaning kit for delicate jobs like dusting blinds. The gentle stroke method you learned stops dust from scattering and prevents scratches. It's cool how the same basic skill helps with cameras too.

Appreciate that tip for keeping things scratch free.

Actually found those soft brushes can still push dust into the grooves on some blinds. A slightly damp microfiber cloth grabs it better in my experience.
