That barn find camera lot in Ohio had a hidden gem
I drove out to a farm sale near Columbus last weekend and picked up a box of old 35mm bodies for $40. Turns out there was a beat up Canon F-1 underneath a bunch of junk, the shutter fires clean at every speed and the meter still works. Found some dried up fungus on the prism but that polished out easy enough. Anyone else ever score a surprise F-1 at a random auction?

My cousin found a beat up Pentax Spotmatic at a estate sale outside of Dayton last year for five bucks. The lens was dirty but the camera worked perfect. He ended up selling it to a collector for around 150 bucks after cleaning it up. It's wild what people toss in with a bunch of cheap junk, the F-1 is a tank of a camera. Those old Canons are built like they expect to survive a car wreck.

yeah @calebw50 those F-1s are nearly indestructible, just keep the shutter speeds exercised so they don't gum up on you.
