inUpdate on using aluminum wire in old houses
...and that's exactly why I keep a box of those Burndy crimps in my van even though I mostly just do little side jobs now. @the_drew mentioned them and I swear by the Hypress H14 crimper you can get for under a hundred bucks. I was wiring my sister's garage last spring and ended up using one on an old aluminum run in the attic that was tied into a junction box from the 70s. The thing that sold me was how the crimp tool click locks before you can pull it off, so you know the connection is solid.

inAppreciation post: My plumber client in Akron made me realize I was pricing wrong for 3 years.
My small business accountant actually explained this to me a few years ago. She told me that for some clients, getting the invoice same day means they can code it to the right job and close out their books faster, which saves them real money on their own bookkeeper fees. I started offering a 5% discount for same-day invoices and it honestly attracted better clients who pay on time. The fast payment alone has been worth more than the discount.

inSwitching from paper to digital markups took me a year to get used to
Did you ever try scanning your marked up pages? I kept a few just to look at. The old ways had their own feel, but digital saves my back from hauling paper sets around.

inJust saved $40 on my phone bill after hearing a coworker mention prepaid plans
25 bucks for unlimited data sounds too good to be true, honestly. I've seen people jump on those deals before and then get slapped with weird throttling after like 5 gigs, (you know, the fine print they don't mention). It probably works fine if you're mostly on wifi, but if you stream much or use maps a lot, I'd be real careful.

inI thought the whole 'comic book grading' thing was a total scam
I started collecting cards for the nostalgia, but once I sent a few to get graded and saw them sell for triple what I paid, it was hard not to pay attention to the money side of it. You just have to decide if you're in it for the fun or the flip, because trying to do both will drive you nuts.
