Bought a $70 "ultralight" camp chair that lasted two trips before the leg folded
I picked up this chair at a shop in Bend, Oregon for $70 because it weighed under 2 pounds and the box said it held 250 pounds. On my second trip out, I sat down after a long hike and the back leg just folded under me, dumping me into the dirt in front of my whole group. Has anyone here actually put real miles on a light chair that didn't quit, or am I stuck hauling the 5 pound one forever?
What exactly gave out on yours, the plastic joint at the hub or the actual leg tube bending? I ask because I had a similar thing happen with a cheapo chair and it turned out the leg was fine, the little plastic connector was the weak point, and it cracked right where it meets the seat frame. If yours folded at the joint, no weight rating on the box is gonna save you, those things are the first to go. Also, did you check if the legs were fully clicked into place before you sat down? I only ask because I did that to myself once and felt like a total idiot after blaming the chair.
