I picked a foam pad over an inflatable one after 6 straight nights of bad sleep in Zion
Everyone on here says you have to get an inflatable pad if you want to sleep well, but I tried that route first and mine kept giving me problems for weeks. I finally swapped it for a cheap closed cell foam pad at $40 and used it for 6 nights in Zion last October, and I slept better than I had in months. I mean sure, it is bulky and takes up half my pack, but I never had to worry about punctures or waking up on the ground. Maybe it is just me but I think the inflatable hype is way overblown for regular weekend trips. Has anyone else gone back to foam and stuck with it?
