My old sleeping bag was fine for years, then it just... wasn't

I've had the same 20-degree bag for about 8 seasons, and it kept me warm on dozens of trips in the Adirondacks. Last October, I woke up shivering on a 35-degree night, and the loft just looked flat and sad. Did the fill just give up all at once, or is there a way to spot this coming?

It probably died slowly and you just hit the breaking point. Check the loft after each trip next season.

Always thought it was sudden, but that slow death idea makes way more sense now.

Check your storage, like @henrygrant said, but maybe your body changed too.
