32 out of 50 classroom speeches got shut down in one semester, that's the real number

I teach a public speaking course at a state school in Ohio, and after tracking my own students for 4 months, I counted 32 times someone was told to stop mid-speech by another student yelling them down. Not by me, not by a moderator, but by peers who disagreed with the topic, like gun control or immigration. That number shocked me because I thought we had maybe 10 incidents total, but once I started logging dates and topics, it was way worse. The kicker is that 14 of those 32 speeches never got finished at all, so those students took a zero just for expressing a view. Has anyone else kept actual logs of disruptions in their classes, or am I the only one seeing this pattern? I'm about to send this data to our dean, but I want to know if other campuses are hitting similar numbers before I make it public.
