Brought a sign to a guest lecture, got told to put it down after 10 minutes

Last month I went to hear a visiting professor talk about media bias at my school in Austin. I brought a small sign that had one line from his old book, just to ask about a contradiction I noticed. The moderator walked over during Q&A and said, 'You can stay, but that sign has to go.' I folded it up and stayed, but nobody in the room even got to see who he was talking to. Has anyone else been shut down for visual protest at a talk that wasn't officially a protest?

Man, that's peak academic theater right there. Like the sign was the actual thing making the talk biased, not the book he wrote. Guess free speech only counts if it fits on a Q&A card.
