Aunt threatened to burn my recipe book over a casserole comment

I was at a potluck and joked that her casserole needed more salt. She got SO MAD and said I could NEVER criticize her cooking in front of everyone. Why do food opinions turn into FAMILY DRAMAS sometimes?

Oh man, family food fights are the worst. My uncle still won't talk to my dad because of a burnt brisket from like 2008. It's never just about the food, it's like you insulted their whole life story. Potato salad seems like such a calm food to start a war over.
