My aunt's boiled carrots taught me to hold my tongue, and I'm glad I did
In my family, there's a quiet rule that you never say bad things about the food on the table. My aunt cooks these boiled carrots for every big meal, and I always thought they were gross, just soft and plain. Once, I almost told her how I felt, but my mom gave me a sharp glare that meant zip it. So I ate them without a word. Later, I got stuck helping my aunt in the kitchen and watched her add a splash of honey and some thyme right after boiling. I tasted one hot from the pot, and hey, it was really nice, kind of sweet and earthy. Now I see why we don't complain; you might miss out on something good if you speak too soon. I even copy her way when I cook carrots now.

Used to hate boiled carrots too, but now I get it.

Disagree, those boiled carrots still sound rough even with honey lol. Saw claireg89 gets it now, but man, mushy veggies just ruin a plate for me. Roasting them with some oil and salt makes them way better, they get crispy edges and actually taste good.

Thought roasting was the only way to make carrots edible. Tried boiling them with a ton of butter and a spoonful of honey until they were just soft, not mushy. Changed the whole game for me.
