My boss in Denver told me to stop bringing up the project's budget overruns during team calls last month.

I got a formal warning for 'creating a negative environment' after I pointed out we were 40% over the initial estimate, which feels like they just don't want to hear the truth, so how do you handle it when your job wants you to ignore obvious problems?

Consider if your delivery might be causing more harm than the problem itself.

Forty percent over budget is a real problem.

Oh man, forty percent is brutal. I see this kind of thing everywhere though, not just with budgets. @hannaht29 you kinda hit on it. Like people order way too much food for a party and half of it gets thrown away, or they buy a huge truck when a small car would do. We just keep piling stuff on without thinking if it's actually needed. It's like we're all stuck in this pattern of overdoing it and it's making things worse for everyone.
