My dad told me to keep my mouth shut at a family dinner about 10 years ago
It was Thanksgiving at my aunt's place in Toledo, and my uncle started going on about how kids today don't know real work. I mentioned that my buddy's 16 year old was putting in 30 hours a week at a grocery store while doing online school. My dad kicked me under the table and gave me this look like I was starting a fight. I learned that some folks just want to complain without hearing facts, so now I pick my spots better. Has anyone else had a relative shut down a simple story because it didn't fit their view?

Yeah numbers are the only thing that works with family. Told my uncle his new fridge would save him $80 a year on electric. He actually googled it while I was standing there. People don't trust stories they trust the receipt.
