PSA: Told my sister her meal prep was boring and got put in time out

She made the same three meals every Sunday for months. Rice, chicken, broccoli on repeat. I said hey maybe switch it up with some fish or squash. Big mistake. She called our mom and said I was being critical and ruining her motivation. Next thing I know I'm getting a group text about being supportive or keeping quiet. Funny thing is she stopped meal prepping entirely two weeks later. Anyone else get shut down for giving advice that was actually useful?

Wait, did you actually get put in a group text for that? That's wild. I used to think people were way too sensitive about food advice, like I'd always be the guy saying "hey just say what you mean and move on." But then my buddy got super defensive when I told him his chili recipe was missing something, and he didn't cook for like a month after that. So yeah, sometimes people just wanna hear "looks good" even if it's bland, and pushing them too hard can backfire real bad. Your sister probably already knew the meals were boring and your comment just made her feel judged instead of helped.

Looks good" is my default now, too. Lessons learned, @thomas291.

Right, so now I gotta watch what I say about my own leftovers too.
