Overheard a dispatcher quote 900 bucks for a 400 mile haul
Was at a truck stop diner outside Denver last month. Guy next to me got a call about moving a sedan from Salt Lake to Vegas. Dispatcher said $900 flatbed only. Seemed crazy high to me for that short run. I asked my regular broker after and she explained it's all about return loads being dead down that corridor. Is that normal pricing or was the dispatcher just fishing for a sucker?
Salt Lake to Vegas is rough for that exact reason, there's basically nothing coming back out of Vegas unless you get lucky. I've seen quotes all over the place on that run, so 900 isn't as nuts as it sounds. Your broker knows what she's talking about.
