Boss told me to skip the Tuesday team meeting and I got passed over for a lead spot 3 weeks later
I was at my desk in Austin when he said the meeting was optional, so I stopped going to focus on my tickets. Found out last week the lead role went to the guy who never missed one, so now I show up even when it's pointless and just listen. Has anyone else gotten burned by taking a manager's "optional" at face value?

Yeah I did the same thing when my old boss said the Friday sync was "whatever works for you" and then he acted shocked when I didn't know about the reorg. Now I sit in every dumb call with my camera off just so my name shows up on the list.
