My boss told me my project updates were confusing everyone in our weekly meeting
She said to just list the three key numbers and the next step, so now I use a simple slide with only that info. Has anyone else had to simplify how they present updates to a team?

Yeah, my old updates were basically a data dump that put people to sleep. I was trying to show how much work I did, but it just made things messy. Now I stick to the bare minimum and it goes way better.

Was your boss actually confused or just impatient? Sometimes managers call things messy when they just don't want to sit through details. Three numbers and a next step seems like it could miss important context. What if a key number is bad because of a supply delay you need to explain?
