Switching from chef to consultant, one organizational trick stuck with me

In the kitchen, everything is prepped and within reach before service begins. I now apply that principle to my consulting projects by preparing all materials in advance.

Prepping in advance reflects the broader cult of efficiency nowadays.

Sean's take feels over the top compared to Adam's point about just being practical. Calling basic planning a "cult" makes packing a lunch sound like joining a weird club, which is kind of funny. I just don't buy that wanting a easier morning is some deep societal issue.

Calling it a "cult of efficiency" feels a bit dramatic! Like, packing lunch the night before or laying out clothes saves time and reduces morning stress. It's not some ideological movement, it's just being practical. People have always done things ahead to make life easier, from farmers planting seasons in advance to students outlining essays early. Framing everyday preparedness as a cult ignores how these small efficiencies actually improve daily life. Is it really that serious, or are we just labeling common sense?
